How Much Does An Explainer Video Cost?

Just where is Bigfoot?

Trying to find prices to compare Explainer Videos is like looking for Bigfoot.

In fact when you Google, “How Much Does An Explainer Video Cost?” you will find several results that look like this:

explainer video cost search.png

Pricing is all over the place.

And when you click on any of those links, you simply get a lot of information on what goes into the cost of an Explainer Video, but never really seem to give you hard prices, even for their own videos.

This is my attempt to give you a peek behind the curtain.

Keep in mind:

You get what you pay for and in most cases, your goal should be to shorten the sales cycle. Expectations that a single video all by itself to a customer may not be realistic.

The prices below are based on:

  • 2D (animated, not still images or whiteboard) video

  • 90-second length

  • Scriptwriting, voiceover, and music are all included

Process for most companies

  1. Research, i.e. complete a form, have a meeting, or both to get the ball rolling on your script

  2. Scriptwriting (Cheapest options usually don’t include this, so you will write your own)

  3. Voiceover

  4. Storyboard (usually for Top Tier only)

  5. Animation

  6. Sound effects, music, etc.

  7. Review and edits

Fiverr  - https://www.fiverr.com/categories/video-animation/animated-explainer-videos

Fiverr is the Wild West of video work.  There are good Explainer Video creators in there. However, it can be like looking for a needle in a haystack when you’re working with someone you can’t talk to that is most likely overseas.

For example, this is a freelancer, Irfan Islam’s YouTube video

  • Pricing is only $75

  • Delivery time is 3 days

Conclusion

You need to determine the goal of your video, the money you have budgeted, and your willingness to promote your video before moving forward.

In most cases, a Mid Tier type of video works well for most businesses that have a marketing budget and plan.

Top of the Line seems to be for larger businesses and the Cheapest seems to be for solopreneurs that are still feeling their way around.
